Student Bus Drop-off or Walker Waiver
Pre-K students must be escorted/received off the bus or when walking home by an adult.
K and 1st grade students must be escorted/ received off the bus or when walking home by someone in 4th grade or higher.
If the K or 1st grader is being escorted by someone other than an older sibling, the school will need a note from the older child’s parent acknowledging they are aware that their child is responsible for taking the child to their house.
*Any K through 3rd grade child without an acceptable student guide, or signed form will not be dropped off by the driver or released by school staff without seeing a parent/ guardian. We will make every effort to contact the parent/ guardian before notifying the proper authorities.
Excessive incidents of improper arrangements could result in the school system making a report to DFCS or the student being removed from school transportation.
Students in 2nd and 3rd grade will be allowed to leave their bus or walk unaccompanied to their house at the end of the school day IF:
the parent has signed a waiver stating that their child is mature enough to walk home AND
a person of a legally responsible age is at the house
*Bryan County Schools will not approve waivers for Pre-K, Kindergarten or 1st grade students.
